Don't Fall For Information Overload!
Okay...I won't point fingers at anyone out there on the web, but seriously, enough with the gimmicks!!
You don't need software to help you play, or applications, or a metronome on your computer, or games, or 5,000 videos walking you through every scenario possible that may happen when you are playing the guitar...enough!
What we really need when learning the guitar is...
A Solid Foundation Of
Guitar Skills and Knowledge
And More Information Is NOT Necessarily Better When Beginning The Guitar...
I have been teaching guitar lessons for a little over 7 years now, but I still remember what it's like to be an absolute beginner. It can be overwhelming with all the new vocabulary and concepts that seem to be highly mathematical. I felt like I was back in Calculus class!
Sure there are hundreds of chords, but why would I want to learn them? Why do I need to learn the "5th order of the ionic scale"?...Just tell me in plain english!
Learning to play the guitar doesn't need to be as complicated as many people make it at all. It is really quite simple when you just take the right approach.
Forget Reading Music...Let's Play!
Seriously, reading music and playing the guitar are two different things. At least that is the simplest way to look at it when you are beginning the guitar. Why tie your brain in knots trying to learn a completely new language reading music...while at the same time your brain is tackling the problem of just getting your hands and fingers to actually play the guitar??
